Careers

If you're looking for a typical career in a typical industry, where you put in your time 9-5 and climb the corporate ladder, then go and become a banker.  Good hours, decent pay, and you never have to work weekends.

If, however, you're interested in doing something creative, that makes a difference, in learning every day, and you're in the business of constantly getting better, then we'd love for you to join us.

Working in an event based industry means work isn't steady, consistent, or even predictable.  It's an adventure that changes day to day, and requires flexibility and the ability to work with a diverse set of people and skills.  Mission Bell makes no guarantees that you'll be working for us next week, next month, or next year.

So we don't ask you to.

Mission Bell is a collective of artists, technicians and creative industry experts that work together on a contract basis.  We've done design work with lighting, scenery, video content, production work all the way from concept designs to assembly, and our share of on site, real world fit the pieces together to make it work.  Check out our services page for some of the professional titles we call ourselves (that change day to day as needed by our clients).

What does this mean to you?  It means you work when you want to, where you want to, on the projects you want to.  If you're not extremely excited by the prospect of working on some of the shows you've seen in our portfolio, then don't apply.

Mission Bell members are expected to bring their own clients and expertise to the table.  Most of us have a part time or full time job that pays the bills and are good enough at it that people ask us to do bigger and better things on the side.

What are some of the core values that we look for here at Mission Bell?
  1. Works well with others.  You have to be able to work with friends, strangers and enemies to be able to get the job done.
  2. Follows through.  All our work has deadlines.  The night after the event isn't good enough.  Saying no is highly encouraged.  Saying yes and then not being able to make it is a fatal flaw.
  3. Loves learning.  You should end your workday being better at something then you were when you started.  Constantly push the envelope and innovate.
  4. Pursues excellence.  Your best work should be what you just did.  "Whoa" should come out of other people's mouths on a constant basis when they see your work.
  5. Focused.  We're all about content here.  We build the essentials to pull focus onto what our clients value the most.  Your ideas will be challenged on a constant basis and edited based on if they fit in the overall concept.  We don't believe in glitter for glitter's sake.
So, if we haven't managed to scare you off and you're interested in a no obligations meet / phone call / email about you doing what you love for us, contact us.
